Nature’s Little Secret .. Where paradise meets the Caribbean

British Virgin Islands

The British Virgin Islands (BVI), a British overseas territory in the Caribbean, is an archipelago of over 50 islands, islets, and cays. First inhabited by the Arawak and later the Carib peoples, the islands were claimed by the Dutch in the early 17th century before the British took control in 1672.

The BVI’s are considered one of the best cruising destinations in the world.  It truly is Nature’s Little Secret with pristine beaches, turquoise waters, diving and snorkeling adventures and inviting beach bars serving up your favorite island cocktail.

A yacht charter in the British Virgin Islands offers a dreamlike sailing experience with warm Caribbean waters, secluded beaches, and world-class anchorages. Known as the Sailing Capital of the Caribbean, the BVI provides endless opportunities for exploration.

Among the many places to visit are The Baths on Virgin Gorda, a must-see natural wonder featuring massive granite boulders, sea pools, and hidden caves. Nearby, the North Sound offers excellent snorkeling, luxury resorts and gourmet restaurants.  A favorite is Saba Rock for sundowner cocktails and dinner with a view of the harbor.

For nature lovers, sail to Anegada, a coral atoll famous for its pink flamingos, untouched beaches, and incredible lobster dinners. Divers and snorkelers can explore the Horseshoe Reef, one of the Caribbean’s largest barrier reefs.

Jost Van Dyke is famous for its beach bars and lively atmosphere.  No yacht trip is complete without a visit to the legendary Soggy Dollar Bar, where you can enjoy the delicious Painkiller cocktail while relaxing on powdery sand beaches of White Bay.  A delicious lunch at Hendo’s Hideout and dancing the night away at Foxy’s Bar in Great Harbor are also great options.

Throughout the BVI, snorkeling and diving opportunities abound, with spots like The Indians, Wreck of the RMS Rhone, and The Caves at Norman Island offering vibrant marine life. Norman Island, rumored to be the inspiration for Treasure Island, is also perfect for pirate-themed adventures.

With steady trade winds, short sailing distances, and a mix of lively beach bars and tranquil hideaways, a BVI yacht charter is an unforgettable way to experience the Caribbean’s beauty and charm.
